1.   Title; COVID19: Treating Oral Manifestations Using Photobiomodulation

2.   COURSE SUMMARY:  Dental clinicians are beginning to see and understand how the oral cavity plays an integral role in the infection process of COVID19, as well as how the oral cavity responds to SARS CoV-2 virus. Common oral symptoms are; loss of taste and smell, xerostomia, “COVID Tongue”, oral lesions, oral inflammation & edema. I will explain the pathogenesis of COVID and its relationship to saliva and the other oral tissues.

During this presentation I will review many of the published research papers that relate to the COVID infection and our practice of dentistry. This will include how saliva contains the viral burden for COVID and implicate saliva as a potential route of COVID transmission. That the mouth is now considered a route of infection and the Mouth is an incubator for the COVID virus

3.This webinar will  demonstrate the proper PBMT technique for treating   these symptoms. Also, please keep in mind that these same techniques can be applied to every patient that is in your practice that suffer from these conditions no matter their COVID positive status. 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES: 

·     Describe the “Cytokine/chemokine Storm,” the Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome “ARDS,” and the pathogenesis of COVID-19 in the oral cavity and respiratory tract.

·     Discuss the oral manifestations of SARS-CoV-2.

·     Understand basic mechanisms, fundamentals and many benefits of Photobiomodulation “PBMT.” 

·     Demonstrate basic knowledge of several useful acupuncture points to incorporate in their dental practice.

·     Apply basic PBMT techniques to treat the oral manifestations of COVID19 and the appearance of these symptoms in the everyday patient

 

Titulo;  Covid 19,  Tratamiento de las manifestaciones orales utilizando fotobiomodulacion  (PBM).

Resumen del curso:

Los cirujanos dentistas están empezando a ver y entender el papel preponderante de la cavidad oral en el rol integral dentro del proceso de infección del COVID19, así como la respuesta de la cavidad oral al virus Sars Cov 2. 

Los síntomas comunes en la cavidad oral son: perdida del gusto, del olor y xerostomía “lengua covid 19”, las lesiones orales, inflamación oral y edema.  Explicare la patogénesis de covid y su interrelación con la saliva y otros tejidos de la cavidad oral.

Durante la presentación se revisan muchos de los artículos publicados a cerca de las infecciones bucales de Covid 19 y nuestra practica de la odontología.

La saliva contiene una carga viral de COVID 19 e implica una vía potencial de transmisión.  La boca es ahora considerada una ruta de infección y es una incubadora del virus.

 

Este seminario presenta las técnicas apropiadas de fotobiomodulacion (FBM O PBM) para tratar estos síntomas. Recuerde que estas mismas técnicas pueden ser utilizadas en  pacientes que no tienen covid 19, pero que muestran las mismas manifestaciones bucales. 

 

Objetivos de aprendizaje

 

-      Describir la “tormenta de Citoquinas” que es el síndrome respiratorio de distrés agudo (SRDA) (ARDS) y la patogenia de covid 19 y el tracto respiratorio.

-      Presentar las manifestaciones de sars Cov 2.

-      Entender los mecanismos fundamentales de fotobiomodulacion y sus múltiples beneficios. 

-      Demostrar el conocimiento básico de puntos útiles de acupuntura, para incorporarlos en su practica clínica.

-      Aplicar técnicas básicas de fotobiomodulacion en el tratamiento de las manifestaciones orales del COVID 19 y la aparición de la sintomatología de estos síntomas  de esta enfermedad, en la práctica diaria con nuestros pacientes.
